Yesterday I found a listing for an upholstered glider in Kennewick, through Craig's List. It was a pretty good price ($150 for a chair that retails for nearly $400), and was said to be brand new. David and I borrowed a friend's pickup and drove up to see it. It was quite the experience, in a very shady neighborhood, from pretty odd people. But, the chair is very nice, and the seller was willing to reduce the price a little bit. So, we now have a very comfortable, upholstered glider in the nursery! (It's definitely not brand new since it has some minor wear on the bottom, and it smells a little like cigarettes. But hopefully some Febreze will fix it right up for us!)
We also spent some time last night organizing our bookshelf (putting some away into the shed for storage, and some into a pile for the garage sale we're planning to have). Afterwards, we were able to have two empty shelves for baby supplies, like diapers and things, and we moved the bookshelf into the baby's room. I think we'll end up putting a little shelf next to the chair. It's starting to really come together!
David's cousin, Sara, is getting married in July, and a shower was thrown for her this weekend in Kennewick. It was in the lobby area of another cousin's apartment complex, which was a great location! It was very fun to see family and spend time with them for a couple of hours. I was able to make the cake for the shower, and it turned out pretty well. It's a white cake with chocolate ganache filling, and I think I may have eaten too much frosting while I was actually making the cake. I just couldn't eat any at the shower. :)
As a prize at the shower I won two catnip plants... it's made Taryn's day! She was rubbing all over the house, chair legs, cushions, her catnip plant, our feet, anything she could reach. I put it next to the basket she sleeps in so she can play with it... I don't think she'll be doing much sleeping there any time soon. :)
